Something for nostalgics: The 14th Arosa ClassicCar

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

From Thursday, August 30 to Sunday, September 2, 2018, Arosa will host the Arosa ClassicCar, which is known far beyond the borders of Switzerland. With its varied field of participants, the international mountain race attracts many interested spectators to Arosa every year. Around 25,000 spectators are expected on the four days of the event, who can look forward to an attractive program again this year. One highlight is the traditional vehicle parade through Arosa, where the participants present their unique vehicles to the public for the first time, creating a racing atmosphere as early as Thursday evening.

Due to the great popularity of the event in the motorsports scene, the field of participants was already filled to capacity after a short time. So many entries were received that the Ochsenbühl site was not sufficient to provide parking space for all the vehicles. Therefore, there will be another paddock between the train station and the Postplatz to offer a shelter to all 164 vehicles. The OC would like to present the spectators with a race field that is as attractive and varied as possible. Thus, the Arosa ClassicCar will attract again this year with very attractive vehicles. There will not only be vehicles that pass the 7.3 km long distance from Langwies to Arosa in less than 5 minutes - one driver, for example, will tackle the 422 meters of altitude with a vehicle that is over 100 years old.

Exciting race program
On Thursday, August 30 at 6 p.m. the event begins with the vehicle parade through Arosa, which leads from the Postplatz to the Kulm and back again. This program item is always very appreciated by the drivers of the valuable vintage cars and the spectators, the mountain village turns into the Little Monaco of the mountains. On Friday, the practice runs of the three racing fields take place on the circuit. The drivers complete the 76 curves from Langwies up to the finish at the Obersee in Arosa for the first time. On the following two days, it's time to get serious. In the regularity categories "Arosa Classic Trophy" and "Arosa Classic Sport Trophy" as well as in the "Competition" class, the participants will compete in two scoring runs each. Between the races, the vehicles in the demonstration class and eleven motorcycles will provide further highlights. Finally, on Sunday evening, the ranking ceremony will take place and it will become clear who will win the "Grand Prix of Arosa".

Event site
The event area will be built at the entrance to the village in and around the sports and congress center. A new grandstand concept has been developed for the spectators this year. A large grandstand will be set up on the Sandhubel area, which will provide the best view of the finish-S. This offers a raised platform for VIP's as well as more seating for spectators. In addition, various food and beverage stands will be available for visitors to linger and enjoy. In the official catering area in the event hall, the race will also be broadcast on large screens. In the freely accessible paddock on the Ochsenbühl and near the train station, car fans can marvel at the valuable and rare automobiles up close and perhaps even have an exciting conversation with one of the drivers. Here, too, a screen will be set up on which the current racing action can be followed. As every year, the race can of course also be watched on the entire race track. The latest information can be found live during the race on the free Arosa ClassicCar Event App, in which all times and results of the international mountain race are listed.

Racing driver feeling for guests
For those for whom participation in the Arosa ClassicCar as a spectator is not enough, a race taxi ride can be booked and they can experience the race track for themselves in a high-performance model such as the R8 or the RS7 from our car partner Audi. Guests will be chauffeured by accomplished motorsport drivers such as Le Mans winners Marcel Fässler and Marco Werner, who will help make every co-driver's experience an unforgettable one.
